In the General Election of July 2024, North East Hampshire's voters chose Alex Brewer as their new representative in the House of Commons.

Collaboration and communication are the foundations of Alex's approach as an MP.

Collaboration

  • developing good relationships with the local councils in the constituency, working with them to solve residents' issues and problems
  • forming close bonds with local charities and bodies, so that Alex always knows where to sign-post constituents to for the right help at the right time
  • fostering the team approach with her staff, volunteers, and the local Liberal Democrat party, as we all want a fair deal for everyone in our communities.

Communication

  • listening to local people on their doorsteps, at their places of work, at their places of leisure and at her surgeries
  • regularly communicating via leaflets, social media and in person, so constituents know what Alex is doing on their behalf, when and why
  • responding to emails, letters and phone-calls in as timely a manner as possible.

Up until the 2024 election, the area covered by the present North East Hampshire constituency had had an unbroken series of Conservative MPs for well over 100 years.

On a 72% turnout, significantly higher than the national average, Alex was elected with 21,178 votes. This result overturned the previous incumbent's 2019 majority of 22,433, and it was one of the largest swings in the country. Virtually none of the polls leading up to the election, nor the exit poll on 4th July had forecast this result.

But Alex proved to be an inspiring leader, and one whom the electorate chose to put their trust in.
