  • The Local and National Government responsibilities page on this site will help you find which level of government has authority for which service. The WriteToThem website tells you who your elected representative is at each level of governement, and how to contact them.

    For many issues charitable and other organisations can provide expert help, and are often the fastest route to a resolution.  

  • No.  We welcome volunteers.  Many of the team we rely on to get our Focus Newsletters and election leaflets out to the households in Hart are volunteers.

    Joining the party allows you to vote at local party meetings, to choose candidates to stand for election as councillors, and to vote on national Lib Dem Party decisions, such as choosing a new leader.  You also need to be a party member to stand for election ... but that is for the future.  Many of our members started off as volunteers, and decided to become members later. 

  • As long as you do not currently belong to another political party, you can join.  If you later decide to stand for election as a representative of the party then you will need to go through vetting, to ensure that your values align with those held by the party.  There is no interview requirement to join as an ordinary member.  You do not need to be a UK national.  Long term residents in the UK are also welcome.

  • Most people join as a member starting at just £15 a year. If you are on benefits there is a concessionary rate of 50p per month.

  • Yes, we're fed up of dodging potholes too.  They are a road hazard.  Highway maintenance is the responsibility of Hampshire County Council, which is currently controlled by the Conservatives.  There are county council elections in May 2025.  Hart Lib Dems will be putting up candidates and actively campaigning.
