Sir Ed is in town!
What special event brings the party leader to NE Hampshire?
It's hot on the pavements, but there are thousands of leaflets to be delivered and the delivery teams are out there every day posting the latest Lib Dem updates through the letterboxes of residents and potential Lib Dem voters across North East Hampshire.
A pile of a few hundred leaflets impatiently waiting to taken out for a one way walk can be a bit intimidating. ‘How am I going to find time to get that lot out?’ But the deliverers do find time. Between them they are spreading the written word across the constituency. In the Fleet and Church Crookham delivery area co-ordinator Emma has built up a team of over two dozen deliverers serving the neighbourhood. Between them they have delivered literally tens of thousands of leaflets, and are continuing their mission right up to election day.
There are a lot of tired feet out there, but spirits are high. Lively banter on the delivery teams WhatsApp group catches the mood. One member drily credits this election campaign with greatly improving his knowledge of local geography. Alice replies ‘plus lots of different ideas as to how I can improve my front garden and make my porch more aesthetic!’. Sarah S comments ‘I’ve enjoyed seeing some lovely houses and gardens I don't normally get to see' and adds ‘I’ve had some lovely conversations too'. Alex B notes ‘garden tips are a great benefit of summer campaigning’.
Yep, leaflet delivery is tiring work, but it is also enjoyable, and much cheaper than paying for an exercise class! Above all, it is making a difference in a tight election race.
New team members are always welcome.
